Join Sara for a 5 day workshop

The Body Process //

From many years of research Sara has created a training that integrates the physical and energetic body. Opening systems of the body from a trance/relaxed space we find the body that is both grounded and expanded into a multi-dimensional reality. We dance, solo, in partnership and with creative puzzles from this platform. The training includes chi cultivation and lots of breathing as a way  to both detox and invigorate the whole being. We address a segment of the body each day and through function and research. This may include writing and image creation. We work the imagination muscles.  I bring a toolbox. We play and invite new possibilities each day. We dance.

To register or to learn more about the festival please visit the SFDI Website.

This classes and workshops are available upon request.

MOVEMENT ALCHEMY

Level I

Being in the Body from the ground up. Bringing you deeply inside, we will explore segments of the physical structure and converse with the energetic structure. There will be a lot of breathing, hands on, time for questions and sharing.  We will also do grounding work, protection and releasing modalities.

This workshop is structured with Chi Cultivation as a beginning, moving into improvisational research, to partnering, integration and sharing.  It may include creative construction and a variety of other tools according to the desire of the students.

Chi Cultivation included – A series of movement/breath exercises that articulate the spine, work the muscles, touch all the meridians and will raise your physical energy and your consciousness building strength and vitality.

Level II

The Energetic body – in relationship. Playing in the field of space, time, weight and relationship.  The whole is more than the parts. Establishing personal and impersonal game plans we enter the terrain of choice, focus, ease and clarity.  Owning your choices.

Level III

Touch 1– the alchemy of transformation through touch.  We Touch before we make physical contact. Playing in the depth of field, holding vibrations and blending them to create balance and power.  Learning to take an improvisational state into a performative composition. Writing, personal growth work and energy alignment are key to integrative application of this work. Mastery of your intention and attention.  Energy release work – holding and blending states – anchoring into the breath  –  having fun in research mode.

Touch 2 – Deep Touch – the hands as a source of connection to the whole brain, spine and heart and the whole being at a multi-dimensional level – from the energy field into the skin, muscles, organs and bones of the physical body.  Hands on.  Blending energetic healing work and dance/movement.

Writing for Scenario

Imagination and Perception from the perspective of the director for the audience/witness – the paradox of things seen, imagined, unseen and imagined.  This is a workshop/training for learning how you write and how you imagine from the impersonal to the vulnerable you and what you are up to on the planet.  What is truth for you, what is your field of expertise and how to land image and writing, write from the outside, the inside and name and process and make impossible choices.  (For your own research)

Composing

Questions and the Creative toolbox investigation. This includes play, curiosity, your field of expertise and collaboration with your own frequency.   Through feeling through the visual, auditory, kinesthetic fields and the unified field we work to identify  the ways in which you create and developing other muscles.

This work can be tailored for professional dancers, or any level of experience. It can be offered in individual, group, workshop, or choreographic project-based formats. Please contact me for rates and schedule

Eye of Leo Series – C – May 10th and 11th, 2013

“With this work – i present all 3 as 1 and then we see the individuation of 1 into [all] aspects”  — Sara Shelton Mann

The EYE OF LEO – C – New solo Series by Sara Shelton Mann – As performed by Marintha (Mim) Tewksbury, Christine Bonansea and Rachael Lincoln –
Fri.–Sat., May 10th and 11th, 8pm – Joe Goode Annex – 401 Alabama Street (17th Street) San Francisco.

“C” For clown, child, concept, children, criteria, crowd of aspects wanting attention or hidden. C is for clarity.  A 2-day site specific performance at Joe Goode Annex – C is a collaborative triptych of solo performances created with performance artists Marintha (Mim) Tewksbury, Christine Bonansea and Rachael Lincoln, under direction by Sara Shelton Mann with sound by Norman Rutherford and light design by David Szlasa

3 women, different by nature and skill, create a hide and seek game of consciousness and while moving through their given and developed tendencies they create an architecture with the mind, the body, the space. A place where symbols and meaning flow outward and curve back into their bodies as an unspoken language or knowing.

This work functions with both a facade and a transparency as its target. Sometimes a mask cannot be removed. Sometimes a mask may be read as a series of locks and keys into the internal realm of a person.

C is a journey as a puzzle without beginning or end. It is framed in the present with all time condensed. It is a play upon the thoughts of the body/mind in interaction with the other, that part of the hidden personality – whether it be the sound of the feet running, a cough from a witness, a truck screeching to a halt or the wind rattling the windows. And so, we tread lightly into the soft tissue, the underbelly.

Tickets: $15 and up – Advance tickets highly recommended: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/378564

If I walk up the mountain, will it encourage the view?
If I take the train, will I miss it?

9 heroes journeys – some overlap, some written into the future, others dark and light hands clutching a silver thread woven into a tapestry of tears. Beyond state there is a consciousness that tills that soil. Each collaboration is a specific process of self- inquiry and conversation. ( I meet myself in all aspects of life here. ) I lay myself out on the ground of receiving. Delicious. This is a 2-3 year process unfolding with an overview of the whole to be brought together as a mandala of magic.

9 performing artists, 3 architects of environment and 1 question:
Is Integration possible through intention, vibration? and neutrality?
(plus a lot of grace.)

In PETER, simple elements construct a game inside the mind as an electrical magnetism produces heat inside Jesse’s [Hewit] body.

From solo to solo bodies change shape, weight, size and meaning.

PETER is facing the stars.

I invite you into the journey. Perhaps we’ll share a meal together, watch that yellow yoke drop into the ocean or flag a shooting star.
