The golden thread is a single strong line that holds everything together and helps both reader and writer find meaning.

Whether it be in Ariadne’s meandering thread to escape the Labyrinth, literally weaving a golden thread into a piece fabric, writing copy that conveys a central message, crafting a central theme or narrative plotline that runs through a story, creating a guiding principle that runs through a legal process, or creating a core value, or a metric that leads to or measures success, the golden thread is what gets us there.

This workshop applies the concept of “the golden thread” to writing, especially poetry.

In this interactive poetry reading, poet, storyteller and teacher, Alexandra Kostoulas, reads poetry written during different aspects of her own life and shows the golden thread in her own work, and invites the audience/participants to find their own golden thread that weaves throughout their life and through looking at key pivot points in their own lives and see how they wove their way in and out, and through them.
